Important NoticeOn June 6, 2011, Maryland's only nesting Northern Goshawk and her three chickswere found dead in Savage River State Forest near Grantsville, Garrett County. The female goshawk was shot and the chicks subsequently starved. In response to this unconscionable crime, the Maryland Ornithological Society is offering a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the perpetrator. This list was compiled by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, Wildlife and Heritage Division.
